Hi, I'm Scott Swinson
I was very lucky at a young age to be introduced to watercolour by Tony Smibert in Tasmania. An amazing watercolourist and teacher. I am forever in his debt for giving me the gift of watercolour.Â
I was also lucky to grow up in a place like Tasmania with untamed wilderness, amazing light and so many different landscapes to explore!Â
I have been painting in watercolour for over 30 years. In that time I have travelled widely throughout Europe, America, Canada and South America, always with the intention of immersing myself in nature, climbing mountains and capturing light with my camera and later in my paintings.Â
I have studied JMW Turner's original paintings at the Prints and Drawings Room at the Tate Britain over many years while I lived in London. He was such a master of painting light!
It has been a gradual evolution of visiting many galleries and observing art that inspired me and then working out how I might go about capturing that essence in my own painting.
I have held group and solo exhibitions in galleries in London, Sydney, Wollongong (NSW), Hobart (Tasmania), Hounville (Tasmania) and Deloraine (Tasmania).Â
I have been teaching watercolour now for a number of years and my passion for this medium grows with me! Let me introduce you to a medium that is often considered difficult. Let me save you many years of frustration by holding your hand and helping you befriend this medium. It can be your friend!
